Configuration and Customisation
A large degree of customisation is built into the Fairsail system so that HR administrators can make adjustments to HR policies that apply to all or part of their company. These options are described in Self-Service Workflow Polices. In addition HR administrators can amend and add to the standard libraries for competencies, skills, rating scales, job profiles, job descriptions, and training options.
Fairsail can also be customised at various levels. New fields can be added to any of the standard data objects, field validation added, standard picklists amended, workflow can be added and amended, and email templates can be changed. In addition the standard self-service screens can be amended or replaced for advanced customisation or extension.
Data Fields
Fields can be added to any of standard objects within Fairsail. So, for example, additional fields can be added to an annual performance review or a training record. The fields can be of various types: text, text area, number, date, time, picklists, email, urls, etc.
Field Validation
Rules can be applied to standard or additional fields to validate data on entry. For example, the social security code can be constrained to its locally permitted length and format.
Picklists
Picklists are used for a number of the standard values e.g. the performance rating scale. These can be amended or extended. New picklist fields can also be added.
Workflow
Fairsail already has a large number of built-in workflows. Custom workflows can be added to them to add additional functions. An example is a workflow for new employees. A new hire workflow will send reminders to the manager when an employee starts, to premises and IT to supply a desk and equipment, to set the team member self-service to prompt the manager to set up new objectives, and finally do a performance review at the end of the probationary period.
Workflows are triggered when any data is stored or change. Workflow rules set conditions to control when the workflow operates and what happens. Actions can be triggered either immediately or at preset hours or days later. The actions can be further data changes, emails, task creation or external web service messaging.
Email Templates
Fairsail uses a number of standard emails. In addition workflows can send emails. All of these emails can be edited.
Self-service Screens
The self-service screens utilize Force.com VisualForce pages. These pages can be edited and extended. This permits advanced customisation to the self service user interface and processes.
